Gold Medal pumpkins are quite widely used and it is the standard extra-large variety that growers prefer to grow. 35 to 40 lb. fruit are produced on large vines and have a deep orange color, and thick, strongly attached stems. The large fruit have moderate ribbing and a fairly uniform round shape. For largest fruit production, allow at least 35 square ft. per plant.
