Wolf pumpkin produces the most incredible handle you’ll ever see! Its 15 to 25 lb. round to oblate shaped fruit has a deep orange color with moderate ribs and thick, long, firmly attached handles. The flesh thickness is excellent, which helps to prevent flat-sided fruit and makes them deceivingly heavy for their size. Wolf produce a range of sizes and shapes, but all have the trademark handle. Wolf was developed by Chris Awald from North Collins, NY, who began work on this variety in 1992. (P.V.P. applied for.) Wolf Cultural Information: Because this variety has such a large and vigorous vine, the breeder recommends that growers plan for a final stand of at least 6′ in the row, with 12′ between the rows. Growers with fertile ground should lengthen the in-row spacing to 8′. Crowding the spacing on this variety decreases its size and yield potential. Note: Due to its late maturity, plant Wolf as early as possible for best results.
